MAMBAJAO, Camiguin, July 30 (PIA) — Camiguin formally opens today its new Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction Management Council (PDRRMC) Office and Operation Center worth P2.6 million, located just within the provincial capitol grounds.
Governor Jurdin Jesus M. Romualdo leads today’s ribbon-cutting ceremony of the building, designed to hold relief goods and rooms for emergency response operations.
The launching highlights the province’s national disaster consciousness month celebration, which also features firefighting, basic life support-cardiopulmonary resuscitation, and first-aid responders contest among high school students.
In his speech during the culmination program, the governor emphasized the need to learn and put into practice what has been discussed in trainings or seminars.
Romualdo said he is very happy that they have zero casualties.
Before he closed his speech, the governor also reminded the local government units in the province, down to the barangay captains, to manage their disaster quick response funds efficiently, noting that the country is yet to face more than 50 typhoons this year, excluding low-pressure area disturbances.
